Critical Tools for Artists

These notes revolve around more critical considerations, methodologies and approaches for established, aspiring and enthusiast artists to apply to their engagement with Generative AI technologies. While these should be relevant for anyone working with pictorial images - whether digital or analogue, or really in any of the plastic arts - they will often focus more on contemporary vocational concerns, even when I’m being inspired by ideas and insights from other fields. I’ve tried my best to define the artworker I’ll be thinking about most frequently when writing these, but that will shift from time to time. Basically: if you’re working as an artist, in any capacity, or you hope to one day, these notes are for you.
